Our Practice

We have been caring for smiles in the Edgewater community for three generations. Since our doors first opened in 1972 we have strived to help our patients achieve a healthy smile with compassion and quality. We value our patients and look to build lifelong relationships with every member of the family.

We look forward to seeing you!

Dr. Kerstin Horbal

After graduating with honors from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Kerstin decided to follow in the footsteps of her father, grandfather, and grandmother to pursue a career in dentistry. She graduated with honors in Implantology, academic excellence, and clinical service from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 2009. Since her graduation she has been dedicated to helping patients achieve their best smile through a caring and conservative approach.  She stays up to date with the latest in dental technology and research through attending continuing education courses and maintaining memberships with the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society.

When she isn't at the office, Dr. Kerstin enjoys running and spending time with her husband, Brady, and daughters, Evelyn and Emilia.

Three Generations

Drs. Aldona and Benjamin Horbal opened the Edgewater office in the fall of 1972. Dr. Aldona practiced general dentistry and Dr. Benjamin, an oral surgeon, divided his time between the office and teaching at the Northwestern University Dental School.

They welcomed their son, Dr. Jack Horbal, to the office in 1981, and the three practiced together until 1986 when Drs. Aldona and Benjamin retired. Dr. Aldona began oil painting in her retirement - her artwork can be seen decorating the walls at the office.

Dr. Kerstin Horbal became the third generation dentist when she joined her father in 2009. They enjoyed working together until 2017 when Dr. Jack Horbal retired. He continues to serve as a forensic dentist with DMORT and NDMS.
